Finally! It's Finished!

I have finally completed the never-ending project! The dining room furniture is DONE!!! Can you tell how excited this makes me? This furniture has been a thorn in my side since day 1. But it's all worth it now!

This is how it looked at first.

Every surface needed to be sanded. Easy enough on the table and buffet. Not so cool on the spindles of the chairs.

From there, we go to primer. We decided to spray paint primer on.

Will hard at work!

Since we were doing this phase over winter, it was very difficult to find weekend days that were warm enough and not too windy for us to spray paint. That definitely delayed the project a while.

Finally starting to see some progress!

Once all of the chairs/leg spindles were spray painted, we decided to roll/brush the rest of the furniture. We could do that in our sun room, and it was a lot faster and gave us a smoother finish. Once we made that switch, it just took two weekends to get everything finished.

The table, with both leaves in, barely fit in the sunroom.

Zebra hutch!

Coat 1 complete.

Will and his dad moved everything in while I was in book club, and I love it!

Buffet and hutch

From the dining room.

Now I just have to figure out what the heck to put on the hutch shelves. I have glass front cabinets for my china, so I won't really use it strictly as a china cabinet. Any ideas?

When I Get Around to It

So sorry it's been awhile since I have been around. Will and I just got back from our anniversary vacation. We ended up spending 5 days at Will's lake house for some serious R&R. We were lazy and read a ton and did puzzles and just enjoyed hanging out with each other. It was a great change of pace for us and has me refreshed for the start of summer! I hope to be spending a lot more time at the lake this year!

Speaking of being refreshed, I have started to get to the point on the house where I want to start adding more special touches. In my mind, I see these projects going perfectly and turning out exactly as they are in these pictures from Pinterest. In reality, I'll probably leave half these projects half done after they look like crap cause I am not a crafty person. But Pinterest makes me believe I am crafty. It's a vicious cycle.

Anyways, here are some of my favorite projects from Pinterest that I hope I can manage to not screw up (that's really the best we can hope for)

Love this lyric from Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing. Maybe for the hallway?

Wreath obsessed. I don't know which one I want, so I might have to make multiples.

I want this sign at Will's lake house so bad. I just have to make it happen.

Kind of obsessed with mercury glass right now. I know it's a fad, and in a few years I'll probably wonder what the heck I was thinking, but I can't help thinking that more mercury glass is probably a good thing right now.

I'll be sure to update once I ever actually start, attempt, or successfully complete any of these projects. :)

Jamie and Natalie's Wedding

Last weekend, we got to celebrate our friends Jamie and Natalie's wedding! Jamie went to our high school and to Clemson and Will and I have been friends with him forever. We are just getting to know Natalie, but we are so happy for this special couple.

This was such a fun wedding for us. Jamie is an awesome guy and we got to reconnect with a lot of high school friends and their parents as well. Overall, it was a great night. Check out pictures for proof!

Jamie waiting on his bride.

Mr. & Mrs. Jamie Williams!

You may kiss the bride!

Will and I at the reception. Will is cheesin, but I think its cute!

Jamie and Mama Rose's dance. Side note - Mama Rose rocks. Seriously. She was always the mom that wanted to take a bunch of kids to the beach for first week, and plan and cook everything. And she is the best cook. I have a WHHS cookbook and I will go through and hunt out Mama Rose recipes cause I know they will be quick, easy, and Will will love them. She is the best.

Sneaky groomsmen!

And the ever popular, always present Wade Hampton picture. I have more of these than I can count. I should do a collage one day. So fun to still keep in touch with all of these people.

What a great way to celebrate a wonderful couple as they start their life together. Part of me always gets anxious or nervous at weddings, because I remember how nervous I was that I was going to say my vows wrong or trip on my dress. But then, at the reception, when Will asks me to dance, I love to be able to spend time with him and remember how much I love him and our marriage, and how much love I know the bride and groom share on this special day.

Remember the Alamo: Part 3 - Strange Sights

Needless to say, when we were in Alamo, we might have to travel for a while to get to where we needed to go. I mean, 15 minutes to a Subway, 40 minutes to a Kroger, over an hour to the nearest Suntrust, it adds up.

The plus side to this was we got to see some really strange sights. And usually I had my camera with me :)

One of my absolute favorite pictures I took in South Georgia is this gem.

I mean, really? High tech corridor? Great sign placement in front of that abandoned warehouse. Way to go.

And don't forget the Gourd Farm!

We saw this on a backroads way to the lake and I about died laughing. Who knew this was even a thing?

We saw lots of cornfields down south.

Alamo isn't a real stickler on it's stop sign placement. Ran this one a few times....

That's right, a faux Statue of Liberty right in the heart of McRae. Why? Who knows?

This is the Alamo City Limits sign. The only thing they have to brag about is the fact that they are "Home to the 1971 Class B Baseball Champs." Classy.

Did you know school buses go to South Georgia to get chopped into lumber trucks? Cause it's true.

At the local car yard/Jeep grave

These tires were about as tall as me, I would have needed a ladder.

Rusty car portrait

Don't think they are going to get this one running again.

There may have been a lot of less than ideal things about Alamo, but

you sure did get to see some wide-open skies

Hope my look into south Georgia was fun and you got to see a taste of our lives down there.
